Sri Lankan Green Moonstones, also known as "Ceylon Moonstones" or "Green Labradorite," are prized gemstones originating from Sri Lanka. These captivating stones are a variety of feldspar, specifically oligoclase or labradorite, exhibiting a mesmerizing green sheen known as labradorescence.
Geologically, they form deep within the Earth’s crust through the slow cooling of magma, allowing mineral crystals to develop their characteristic iridescent layers. Over time, erosion and geological activity bring these stones to the surface, where they are mined, cut, and polished. To craft a sphere, lapidaries carefully select a suitable rough, then skillfully cut and polish it into a perfect round shape, enhancing its natural play of light and color.
Historically, Sri Lankan Moonstone spheres have been used as talismans, decorative objects, and ritual tools across cultures. In ancient Sri Lanka, they were believed to possess protective and spiritual qualities. In metaphysical circles today, these spheres are thought to amplify intuition, balance energies, and connect with lunar and cosmic forces, making them popular in healing and supernatural practices.
Their ethereal beauty and mystical significance continue to enchant collectors and spiritual practitioners worldwide.
